The SANNAN KARATE ACADEMY was
founded in 1984 with the purpose of spreading the knowledge
of karate, in general and of RENBUKAI KARATE in
particular. The head instructor is a Canadian Director
of the All Japan Renbukai Karate Federation, one of two
Directors in Canada. The SANNAN KARATE ACADEMY
is a member of the All Japan Renbukai Karate Federation,
one of only three Renbukai karate schools in Canada.

The teaching of karate at the SANNAN
KARATE ACADEMY attempts to follow the traditional
methods of instruction, but has been modified slightly
to take into account some cultural differences. Standards
meet those of the All Japan Renbukai Karate Federation
and rankings are recognized by the Federation.

The head instructor at the SANNAN
KARATE ACADEMY, Verlin Koch, has been training in
karate and the martial arts since 1966 and has been teaching
since 1969. He has trained in Japan and has been training
in Renbukai Karate since 1978. Currently, he holds the
rank of Godan (5th degree black belt) in the All Japan
Renbukai Karate Federation.
